Viña Carmen was founded in 1850 by Christian Lanz, who named the winery in honor of his beloved wife Carmen. More than a century later, in 1987, the Claro Group acquired the brand to take it into a new direction. In 1992 a new winery was built and new vineyards were planted to produce the best-quality wines from Chile and export them worldwide.

Carmen has been recognized for its quality and for being a pioneer in the Chilean wine industry. As an example, the Carménère grape was discovered amongst Carmen vineyards. Additionally, the winery has been the leading producer of wines from organically grown grapes through its Nativa brand.

Today, Viña Carmen is one of the most important Chilean wineries in the premium wine segment. It exports to more than 50 countries, which represents 94% of the total production.

Wines

Carmen Classic Cabernet Sauvignon

Classic Maipo Valley’s Cabernet Sauvignon has a bright ruby color and characteristic tipicity of this variety. Toast aroma reminiscent of ginger bread, mint and cedar. Delicious, with a good structure, medium body, and soft tannins. It shows a nice balance between fruit and oak, dominated by ripened cherries, fruit confiture and a touch of spices.


Carmen Classic Carménère

This Carménère has a deep ruby color with intense aromas of ripe red fruit, cherries, olives, raspberries, coffee, soft chocolate and peppery notes. It has elegant oak and spicy hints, with a good balance. Dark chocolate and plum jam on the palate.


Carmen Classic Merlot

Bright raspberry color, with intense aromas of caramel, coffee and chocolate, with a slight touch of cherries and a hint of mint. Soft and silky tannins and lingering finish.


Carmen Classic Sauvignon Blanc

Bright greenish-yellow in color with fresh and expressive varietal aromas. Deliciously crisp with fresh and juicy citrus and grapefruit, along with nettle and flint. Nice varietal typicity and a long finish.


Carmen Classic Syrah

Carmen Syrah has a deep red-purple color. It shows the delicious, typical fruity nose of raspberries, violets and chocolate notes. Very soft and fresh with a creamy body. Intense aromas and flavors of ripe blackberries and cassis, with a slight touch of spices. Ripe tannins, good persistence and juicy.


Carmen Classic Chardonnay

Bright green-yellow color. This Chardonnay is very fresh and crispy, with plenty of citrus and mineral notes. It is reminiscent of pineapple, white peaches, pears, mango and limes, balanced by the taste of creamy hazelnut notes. It is a very expressive wine with lot of fruitiness in taste and aroma. Long finish.


Carmen Gold Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

A full, deep ruby-colored wine with intense, fine and complex aromas. Cigar box and cedar nose with truffle hints. Flavors of cherries, liquor, and cherry confiture with very soft and ripe tannins. An éclair, with a creamy taste, frames a big body and structured wine. Plenty of mocha and a dark cherry jam. Some mint nuances and fume character, perfectly integrated with cedar, inky aromas, and spicy flavors. There is plenty of fruit and elegant soft tannins.


Carmen Reserve Merlot

Full aromas of mint, spice, cassis, black cherry, leafy chocolate flavors with saddle leather tobacco note. Bursting with ripe dark plums, blackberries, dried herbs and spices.


Carmen Reserve Sauvignon Blanc

Shows brightness; clean with a crispy finesse. Classic minerality, floral and herbal hints, framed by green notes of citrus and asparagus. Begins with scents of silex mineral notes, nice white pepper and herbal hints blended with aromas of pink grapefruit and citric fruit. A long finish with a vibrant and refreshing acidity. A strong complexity, good structure, and a taste that lingers in your mouth.


Carmen Reserve Chardonnay

A bright yellow-green color. Nice aromas of mango, melon, lime and grapefruits with touches of toast and vanilla. Soft and ripe fruits; plenty of tropical fruits flavor and a mineral acidity. A nice concentration and a long finish.


Carmen Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

Richly concentrated and complex . A wine that combines impressive wild black cherries, black currant and cassis with some hints of mint, cedar, clove, tobacco and spices. Ripe and generous on the palate, sweet fruity flavors, fleshy and powerful, followed by dark bitter chocolate, cigar box and fine structured tannins.


Carmen Nativa Cabernet Sauvignon

The scents of black cherries, blueberries, tobacco, sweet mint, and eucalyptus melt into the oak. Its tannins are generous, soft and fine in texture with a hearty toasted nose that conceals leather and stable aromas and background notes of coconut.


Carmen Nativa Chardonnay

Pale gold. Lovely Chardonnay with aromas of ripe peaches, melon, guava, mango and citrus notes. Ripened tropical fruits, good acidity, fresh and well balanced. White pepper and tropical creamy finish.


Carmen Wine Maker's Red

Deep and intense garnet color. It is a well-structured wine with a huge personality. Lots of body, elegance and Maipo Valley typicity, with tobacco, chocolate and spicy notes like cedar. Also distinguished are the menthol, cassis, raspberries, cherries and dry plums. It has fine, silky, ripe, powerful and long tannins and a pleasant and lingering finish. It is a sophisticated and elegant wine.


Carmen Reserve Syrah/Cabernet

Complex wine with intense aromas of black cherry, violets and a lot of spices. Notes of cedar, cinnamon, white gooseberries and ripe blueberries. Strong red berry confiture flavors. It is a wine with a good structure, a lot of energy and long life. Fresh, ripened and soft tannins. Aging potential five to seven years.


Carmen Classic Pinot Noir

An intense red-violet color. This wine displays flavors of wild red fruit, with strawberry, raspberry and pomegranate aromas and some mineral notes.


Carmen Reserve Syrah

Dark cherry-red color. This wine has smoke and tobacco notes along with black cherry, prune and dark chocolate aromas that open to violets. Ripe fruit notes blend with eucalyptus, mocha and spice, with lovely acidity and nice tannins.


Carmen Reserve Pinot Noir

Intense red-raspberry color. This wine displays strawberry jam, raspberry, cherries and floral aromas. It has an attractive mix of fruit and toast with great acidity and a long, soft finish.


Reserve Carménère-Cabernet Sauvignon

Dark ruby red in color. A rich and refined wine, with plenty of ripe fruit characteristics and spices. Intense wild black cherry aroma, followed by notes of laurel, clove, mint, pepper, dark chocolate and black olives. Well-structured and concentrated with a big length; lovely balance of jam and dark ripe fruit along with peppery flavors and sweet oak. Fine-grained, smooth and velvety tannins. A complex wine with a long finish.
